About

Hub formed in early 2006, centered on the long-term songwriting partnership of guitarist Tim Hay and classically trained singer Peter Gorsuch. They were joined by former session guitarist Rob Bromley and the experienced rhythm section of bassist Pete Scott and Tim's brother Alistair on drums.

Following their first live performance in May 2006 the band grew in confidence, receiving rave reviews for their live shows, which have led to them playing alongside bands as diverse as The Howling Bells, Adem, The Crimea, Afterhours, DUELS, Kyte, Joan As Police Woman and iLiKETRAiNS. Having gigged intensively until June 2007, Hub broke for a short time to allow several band members to complete their university courses. During this hiatus Hub withdrew to their home recording studios to complete the recordings for what would be their third EP, the first two having picked up considerable praise for their careful balance of intricate post-rock soundscapes and deeply memorable songs.

Musically, Hub's three guitars intertwine, creating shimmering, reverb-soaked backdrops for Pete Gorsuch's hauntingly beautiful melodies. The combination of soaring, multi-octave vocals, gut-wrenching dynamic shifts and intricate, looping rhythms have drawn comparisons with bands such as Elbow, Sigur Ros, Muse and Mogwai. However, at the heart of Hub's music lies a determination to rise above the frequent banality of many post-rock bands, writing songs that maintain a human and personalised element.

After nearly six months in the studio Hub have returned with their strongest recording to-date and are beginning another intensive period of gigging. Their new material, darker and more forceful than before, marks a clear development in the band's songwriting style. And as part of their DIY ethic Hub have opted to give the EP away for free, producing the artwork themselves and making each case by hand.

Building on their previous success Hub are now beginning to move further afield, playing to new audiences with gigs lined up at venues throughout the UK including support slots alongside some of the countries best emerging bands.
