Resource: Recording Studios About I've been playing in bands for years, throwing money and time at various recording studios only to find the end product to be nowhere near what I was hoping for-then having to pay over the odds for the pleasure. Great. Then, when you're half way through getting the take of your life down, the engineer decides that your 8 hours are up and you have to come back tomorrow. after all this when you've finished your track, it gets mixed to how the engineer wants it to sound (an old indie band who I used to play with ended up sounding like Slayer on one occasion!).

From here I decided to grab some recording gear and go for the DIY method. It's great-check out my bands' album, Heliconia "Glad You Were Born" for the results...some of my other work is listed on my media player. At Sophie's House things are different. No set times. The rate card is either per song or per session-you choose, it's your recording after all! We love music so any style is welcome, feel free to bring CDs/mp3 etc of what you want to sound like and we'll do our best. We also get the beers in and try our best to look after you while you concentrate on the important stuff.

While we're getting set up properly, we're only taking bookings for acoustic acts, electronica, voice over & Spoken word, DJs and anything without live drums/amps etc (the sound proofing isn't finished yet!). Also, if you have mixes from previous recording on wave/aiff/audio files that you want to touch up, drop us a line.
